Our Story

Our Ranch is named after Grandpa Homer Nelson. Grandpa Homer was a farmer and rancher. He was well known for his sweet Green River Watermelons and his overalls that he loved wearing. During the summers he could be found wearing his overalls selling watermelons in towns between Green River and Salt Lake City, Utah. Kent and Emilie Nelson and their two Children Haylie and McCoy carry on Grandpa Homer’s tradition by producing Beef and selling directly to customers.

Kent grew up in Green River working in the melon fields and with cattle. Grandpa Homer passed away from cancer before Kent was born. Kent has always loved hearing the stories of Grandpa Homer.  Kent works full time as an Agriculture teacher and FFA adviser at Green River High. He also serves on the Green River City Council.

Emilie grew up in Bountiful, Utah,  She and Kent met while attending Snow College in Ephraim Utah. Somehow Kent talked Emilie into getting married and moving to Green River. Green River was quite a culture shock for Emilie. She has since learned to love Green River and the farm and ranch life. Emilie teaches Preschool at the Elementary in Green River and stays busy trying to keep Haylie and McCoy out of trouble.
